Comments: After leaving Lexington High School in 1955, I enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and spent 4 years stationed in Texas maintaining jet aircraft. I returned to Lexington after my tour of duty and worked for a few years as a truck and tractor mechanic and as a lineman for the Dawson Public Power District. I had been looking for a way to get started in an engineering career and I was presented with an opportunity to do just that when the Sperry New Holland Company built a manufacturing plant south of Lexington.
I was lucky enough to obtain a position as a Tool Designer and then later as a Process Engineer. When the New Holland company closed its plant in Lexington, I went to work for the Lockheed Martin Aerospace Division in Denver, Colorado as a Manufacturing Engineer and worked in that position until retiring in 2002. I feel very fortunate and thankful for the opportunities I have been given and the life experiences I have had. My wife Susan and I now have a small farm in Elbert County, Colorado where we care for fiber animals who in turn allow us to use their fiber for spinning, knitting and felting projects.
I met Dwayne Margritz at the Barmore Drug store in Lexington a couple of years ago, I introduced myself and told him that we had been in the same class in high school. The class of 1955. He said he could not remember me. I was very shy in high school so I was not all that surprised that he did not remember who I was.

Comments: Had a wonderful time. Worked for government for short time, started our family. We have 5 children, 14 grandchildren. Went back to work when the youngest was in school. Worked in a fabric store for 8 years, Hallmark and retired from Dillards.
