Memorials of the Class of 1983

Edmund Scott Fetter, 49, of Anderson, S.C., formerly of Lexington, died Saturday, July 27, 2013. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Christian Assembly of God in Greenville, S.C.
     Edmund was a 1983 graduate of Lexington High School and began his career at Nebraskaland Tire while in high school. After graduating, he relocated to Greenville. While in Greenville he worked for Consolidated then Firestone and had spent his recent years installing cable systems around the Anderson area.
     Edmund is survived by his mother, Sue Barnes; two sons, Jason (Patricia) Garison, Joshua Fetter; a daughter, Jessica (Tim) Stevens; three brothers, Brent Barnes, of Lincoln, Brian (Caprice) Barnes of Lincoln, Dan (Stacie) Fetter, of Greenville; three sisters, Carrla (C.J.) Rich, of Belton Texas, Paula Jo Fetter, of Greenville, Viki (Mark) Hurlburt, of Greenville; five grandchildren, Penelope, Joseph, Christopher, Alanis and Dillon and 17 nieces and nephews.
     He is preceded in death by his father, Harry Arthur Fetter; stepfather, Lawrence "Squirt" Barnes and a nephew, Russell Staples.
     Palmetto Mortuary in Greenville handled the arrangements.

Michael S. McConnell, 44, of North Platte, passed away Sept. 22, 2009 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. He was born November 11, 1964 to Ronald G. and Dian R. (Rohnert) McConnell at Hermiston, Oregon. Michael graduated from Lexington High School in 1983. He moved to North Platte in 1985 and attended Mid Plains Community College. On June 28, 1986, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Skoog in Fremont, NE. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, North Platte Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years, where he attained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, he served as an EMT, Dive Rescue member and Chaplain. He was most recently employed at Shopko in loss prevention. He is survived by his daughter, Michaela; two brothers, Kelly (Susan) McConnell of Marysville, KS and Tim (Deborah) McConnell of Paxton, NE; a sister, Kim (James) Hoffman of Kearney, NE; his mother-in-law, Donna (Kenneth) Kappeler of Fremont; a sister-in-law; three brother-in-laws and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; and grandparents. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, September 28, 2009 at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont, NE. Visitation will be Thursday 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
