Memorials for the Class of 1977

Craig K. Casper, 48, of Lexington, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007, the result of a car/train accident near Lexington. Visitation was Friday, April 6, 2007, at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington. Services will be Saturday (today), April 7, 2007, at 10:30 a.m., at Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor Megan Morrow officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home of Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
   Survivors include his wife, Terri Casper of Lexington; three sons, Curt, Eric and Blake, all at home; his parents, Nick and Bonnie Casper of Lexington; one sister, Deb (Chuck) Jensen of Columbus; step-grandmother, Irene Darnall of Lexington; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Eilene Wehr-Rath and Hugh Rath of Kearney; brothers-in-law, Doug (Marian) Wehr of Lexington, and Dave (JoEllen) Snyder of Loveland, Colo.; nine nieces and nephews; one great-niece; one grandnephew; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many, many friends. Craig was preceded in death by his grandparents, father-in-law, six uncles and one aunt.
   Craig was born Feb. 12, 1959, at Lexington, to Nicholas and Bonnie (Darnall) Casper. He grew up in Lexington, graduating from Lexington High School with the class of 1977.
   Craig was united in marriage to Theresa "Terri" Snyder on May 26, 1985, at Lexington. He started working for Precision Bearing while in high school and worked there until 1988. He then worked several places, including Big "A" Auto Parts, J&S Oil, which he and Terri later bought and called Casper Oil, Wal-Mart, Orscheln's, GPLS, which changed to ELM, and was working at Electric Fixture and Supply Company at the time of his death.
   To know Craig was to love him. He had an infectious laugh and never knew a stranger. He enjoyed attending his boys' activities and was a Cub Master for Pack #143 in Lexington. He enjoyed fixing cars, even model cars, restoring his 1959 El Camino, 4-wheeling in the mountains, camping, playing cards and board games, playing catch with the football and shooting hoops with his boys. He enjoyed NASCAR and Jeff Gordon was his favorite driver.
   Craig was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Memorials are suggested to the family for an education fund for his boys.

Kay Hasty Van Booven, 47, Atlanta, formerly Lincoln, died peacefully Thursday (11/16/06) with her friend, Ron Smith, by her side. Born, Bridgeport. Graduate, Lexington High School. Earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln School of Journalism, master's degree from Webster University in Kansas City. Worked for the Phoenix New Times before moving to Atlanta to work for Ted Turner. Loved dogs, music, Johnson Lake with all its activities, football and anything associated with Nebraska.
   Survivors: sisters, Rebecca Hasty, Lincoln, Julie Hasty Cottrell, Scottsdale, Ariz.; nephews, Hamilton Hasty, Leo Ladely, Lincoln, Matthew Kramer, Tuscon, Ariz.; niece, Suzanna Cottrell, Phoenix.

Cynthia J. Wehtje - (1958-2002)
Osceola

Memorial services for Cynthia J. (Werts) Wehtje, 44, Osceola, were Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at the Kepner-Roberts Funeral Home in Osceola. Inurnment will be at a later date.
    Cindee died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at the Annie Jeffrey Health Center  in Osceola from heart complications.
    She was born June 15, 1958, to Howard and Eleanor (Anderson) Werts at Santa Barbara, Calif. Her father and stepmother, Jan, were former residents of Lexington, where Howard was a Dawson County deputy sheriff.
    On May 3, 1980, she married Steven R. Wehtje at Lincoln. They had been residents of Osceola for the past six years.
    She was a member of the Osceola Lions Club and had been a waitress in Osceola.
    Survivors include her husband of 22 years, Steve, of Osceola; two daughters, Brandi and Stacy Wehtje, both of Lincoln; her stepmother, Jan, Coos Bay, Ore.; one sister, Julie Becker, Beaver City; one brother, Donovan Werts, North Bend, Ore.; and one step-brother, David Teachman of Canada; nieces and nephew, Lisa, Eric and Emily, all of Beaver City.
     She was preceded in death by her father and mother, and grandparents, Julien and Hazel Regouby.
     Kepner-Roberts Funeral Home of Osceola was in charge of arrangements.
