Memorials for the Class of 1964

Robert "Bob" Spegel, 60, of Lexington, died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2005, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney after a short illness.
A memorial service will be Thursday, Dec. 29, at Parkview Baptist Church in Lexington, with Pastor John Shields officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Reynolds-Love Funeral in Lexington. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Spegel of Lexington; a daughter, Jennifer Spegel of Lexington; an uncle, Albert (Loretta) Spegel of Oregon; along with many cousins and friends.
His parents and two infant siblings preceded him in death.
Bob was born June 25, 1945, in Lexington, to Charles and Mildred (Baklaar) Spegel.
He was a lifelong resident of Lexington, graduating from Lexington High School with the class of 1964.
On July 8, 1972, he married Barbara McGinnis in Lexington. To this union, Bob's pride and joy, Jennifer was born.
He worked for his father at Spegel Wrecking Yard, where he became very fond of everything from the most common to the most unique. He also worked for Dawson County Department of Roads for 29 years, retiring in August 2004.
Bob collected everything. He also was the "go-to" guy whenever someone needed something, whether it was for a car, tractor, or just a unique item. Bob would go from auction to auction until he found just what he needed. He also loved to ride motorcycles and go to car shows.
Although Bob was a simple man, he always made sure his family was well taken care of. He loved spending time with family, including his two dogs, Bessie and Sandy. His laughter will always be remembered in the hearts of all who knew him.
Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
