Memorials for the Class of 1945
H. Dale Kugler, 85, of Lexington, Nebraska died on Thursday, July 19, 2012, at the Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington.
He was born on June 22, 1927 to Henry and Georgia (Zimmerer) Kugler in Lexington. Dale attended rural school at District #52, and then attended high school from 1941-1942, but graduated with the class of 1945, due to enlisting into the United States Army Air Corps on October 28, 1944. Dale was sent to Army Specialized Training Program (ASTP) at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and later at South Dakota State College in Brookings, South Dakota. He served his country in Army of Occupation Germany and was honorably discharged on February 1, 1947.
Dale was united in marriage to Louise Nisley in Gothenburg, Nebraska on December 28, 1947. This marriage was blessed with four children. He then attended Nebraska Agriculture College and Nebraska Wesleyan, began farming, feeding cattle and raising hogs with his father in 1949.
Dale served on the University of Nebraska Agriculture Advisory Board, Nebraska Brand Committee, and various agriculture and livestock organization committees. He was also an Instrument rated pilot. Dale was a past member of the Masonic Lodge and the Tri-County Shriners. He enjoyed playing golf with friends and family. His other hobbies included restoring antique and classic cars, motorcycles and airplanes as well as metal artwork.
Dale was united in marriage to Delores "Dee" Hibberd-Stienmetz on March 3, 1995 Dee's two children blessed this union. Survivors include his wife Delores "Dee" Kugler of Lexington, Nebraska; son, John and wife Cyndi Kugler of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter, Becky Kugler of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter, Peggy and husband Brad Hurrell, of Charlotte, North Carolina; son, Lane and wife Peggy Kugler, of Plum Creek Canyon, Nebraska; 9 adored grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; step-daughter Julie and husband Gerald Polmateer and step-daughter, Jill Stienmetz; as well as a host of loved and admired friends, nationwide.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Delphia Edwards and Carol Peterson.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 23, 2012 at the Parkview Baptist Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Rev. John Shields officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation as the family is honoring Dale's wish to be cremated. Frank F. Boyd, 84, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died Tuesday, January 24th, 2012, at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital, Gothenburg. He was born June 7th, 1927, in Holbrook, Nebraska, to Fred and Agnes (Vantine) Boyd. Frank attended school at Curtis, Nebraska, until his family moved to Lexington, Nebraska. He graduated from Lexington High School in 1945. He was drafted on April 6th, 1946 and served his country in Japan in the occupation air force. He married Alice Heidebrink on November 9th, 1947. They lived in Lexington where Frank worked at the CO-OP until March 1st, 1949, when they moved to her family's farm north of Gothenburg. They lived there for 60 years until they moved into town to live at Stone Hearth Estates.
Frank attended St. John's Lutheran Church then later the American Lutheran Church. Frank was confirmed in the first class in the new church. He took an active part in church. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign War. Frank and Alice enjoyed getting together with family and square dancing.
Surviving are wife, Alice May Boyd of Gothenburg; four sons: Robert (Lisa) Boyd of Hastings, Nebraska, David (Cynthia) Boyd of Lexington, Nebraska, Thomas (Janet) Boyd of Overton, Nebraska, Douglas (Mimi Schneider) Boyd of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren, Nichole (Erik) Wetjen, Leilani Boyd, Zachary Boyd, Sarah (Cesar) Hernandez, Matthew (Sara) Boyd, Shawn (Kendra) Boyd; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Wilma Boyd of Kearney, Nebraska; along with nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim Boyd; brother-in-law, Westley Geiken; sisters-in-law, Vera Geiken and Mildred Jensen; and a great-grandson, Cain Hernandez.
Frank deeded his remains to the Anatomical board humanitarian research division of Creighton Medical Center and UNMC.
Memorial Services were held at the American Lutheran Church, Saturday, January 28th, 2012, at 3 p.m., with Pastor Matthew Groenke and Lonna Grabenstein PMA officiating.

Eloise Warren, 82, of Hastings, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings. Memorial services are 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2010 at the All Saints Chapel at Good Samaritan Village in Hastings with the Rev. Dr. Judith Allen officiating. Visitation and book signing will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, March 14, 2010 at DeWitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Hastings.
Eloise was born on May 15, 1927 in Lexington, the daughter of Clement and Frances (Paul) Prasch. She attended school in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1945. Eloise married Alan L. Warren on Oct. 4, 1947 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington. They lived in Overton before moving to Grand Island for several years and later moved back to Lexington. Eloise moved to Hastings in 2000 after her husband died so she could be closer to her daughter.
While living in Grand Island she worked for the Army Ammunition Plant and, after returning to Lexington, worked at Lexington Communications, retiring in 2000. Eloise's hobbies included quilting, sewing, reading and gardening. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, leaving a legacy of strength, courage and love to her family.
Eloise is survived by her son, Brent A. Warren of Kenesaw; daughter, Tana (Ron) Seymour of Hastings and granddaughter Melanie Kuehl of New Orleans, La. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and two sisters. Memorials are suggested to the Highland Park Arboretum or Mary Lanning Hospice. Normalee Uhler, 82, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Monday, January 18, 2010, at Park Avenue Estates in Lexington. She was born July 30, 1927, at Lexington, Nebraska to Hugh Alonzo and Esther Kathryn (Mosher) Dodge.
Normalee was a 1945 graduate of Lexington High School. She was united in marriage to Roy Uhler in February, 1950 at the United Methodist Church in Lexington. The couple moved to Ogallala in 1950, where they owned and operated Uhler Sand & Gravel. They owned the company until Roy's health declined in 1970. In 1987, following Roy's death, Normalee returned to Lexington to be near family and friends.
She resided at Park Avenue Estates since 2005.
Normalee had many interests; including, antiques, collecting Red Wing Crockery, bells, reading and doing puzzles. She was a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed visiting with her family. Normalee so enjoyed her faithful companion, Buffy.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter: Kathryn Joan Uhler & Terry Harimon of Kelso, Washington, Two brothers: Roy & Mimi Dodge of Desert Hot Springs, California, Roger & Bernita Dodge of Penn Valley, California, Two sisters: Marjorie & Bill Hatting of Lexington, Nebraska, Virginia Cumpston of Lexington, Nebraska, Two grandchildren: Joni Kathryn (Chad) Cowan of Gering, Nebraska, McKenna Wynn Jessen & fiance' Nate James and his children, Taylor & Shayleigh all of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Three great-grandchildren: Dillon & Madison Hrasky and Briana Kathryn Cowan.
Normalee was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Roy.
It was Normalee's wishes that her body be cremated. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church.

Belva Marion Commins, 79, of Lexington, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.
She requested to be cremated and have her ashes spread on the farm that she loved so much as were her husband's ashes. At her request, there was no service. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home of Lexington was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Michael (Virginia) Commins of Lexington, and Scott Commins of Beatrice; a sister, Berenice Libal of Lexington; two grandchildren, David and Beth Commins of Lexington; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy; and three sisters, Ruth Qualley, Mary Downey and Luella Lueck.
Belva was born June 1, 1927, to Benjamin and Edna (Simmons) Velte. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1945, and from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln with a major in home economics and child development. She married Roy R. Commins on May 11, 1946, in Marysville, Kan. Following her graduation they moved to her parents' farm northwest of Lexington where she grew up, later inherited, and was her home until her death.
Belva was a member of the Buffalo Grove Presbyterian Church, had been a member of the Women's Circle and for many years taught Sunday School and did the crafts for Vacation Bible School.
For many years she lead the rhythm band at District #59, and was a 4-H leader for the Happy Maids and Wonder Bugs 4-H clubs.
When she became unable to walk easily she spent her time cutting quilt blocks and making quilts. Belva gave away hundreds of quilts, lap robes, and baby quilts. Over 100 of her quilts were sent to victims of Hurricane Katrina. Quilts also went to the police and fire departments and Veteran's Home in Grand Island.
Memorials are suggested to Lexington Fire and Rescue Department, the Buffalo Grove Church or the Donor's Choice.
